Occupying an area measured to be about 870km2, Meru National Park is found on the North Eastern part of Mount Kenya. The park is a โ€œcomplete wildernessโ€ covered with lush swamps and a wide range of wildlife species. It is located about 348km from Nairobi.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Though the area is often rainy and wet, the Park is part of Semi-arid zone and has irregular rainfalls. This makes it open to visitation anytime.

  • Over 427 bird species that make bird watching an awesome activity at the park
  • The former home of Joy and George Adamson and Elsa the lioness
  • An angle View of the second highest mountain in the region โ€“ Mt Kenya
  • Rivers and riverine habitats
  • The Tana river is also visible from the park

  • Wildlife at large, including the two rare animals; Reticulated Giraffe and the Gravyโ€™s Zebra. Others include Elephants, Eland, Bush Pig,ย  Waterbuck, Cheetah, Leopard, , Hippopotamus, Bohor Reedbuck, Hartebeest
